Chapters/Series
Each series in my work represents a unique journey, exploring different themes, emotions, and creative expressions. From deep reflections on human nature to playful takes on history, these chapters invite you to explore the evolving story behind my art.
into the wild
This series is a departure—a reminder to embrace playfulness while staying precise. Each piece begins on upcycled construction paper, the same salvaged roll that’s become a canvas for transformation. There’s a lightness here, a sense of freedom that contrasts sharply with my other work.
Through a limited color palette, I’ve explored themes of childhood, humor, and fantasy. The kind of magic that can be found in the quiet corners of memory or a fleeting laugh. Most of these paintings are grounded in something tangible—real photographs unearthed from history, both online and in my own life. But they’re not just snapshots; they’re reinventions, blending nostalgia with imagination. This series was also Hunter’s second solo exhibition, held in October 2025 in Aurora, IL.
The exhibit brought together these vibrant, whimsical works for the first time, offering a moment for visitors to experience the intersection of humor, history, and creativity in one cohesive space.
into the void
Black and white. Nothing else. Each painting in this series is a meditation on simplicity and contrast, brought to life on upcycled construction paper—a giant roll rescued from the garbage, now transformed into a canvas. There’s something poetic about turning waste into art, and it feels like a quiet rebellion against how we treat the world.
The work whispers themes of environmental fragility and the raw, beautiful brutality of human nature, but I didn’t create these pieces to give you answers. Instead, I hope you’ll find your own reality within them.
For me, this series is a spiritual act. It’s tied to the hunter’s dharma—a call to strip away distractions and face the Truth that lives within. These paintings are my offering, fragments of clarity I found in the chaos.
into the CYCLE
This series marks Hunter’s first steps into the world of art. Beyond sketches in notebooks, each piece is painted on recycled plastic signs and cardboard—materials salvaged during his time as a college student. Over four years, the work evolved alongside his education, reflecting his growing awareness of climate change and his commitment to environmental issues.
As a student in the natural resources program, Hunter’s passion for recycling and sustainability quickly merged with his art, leading him to create exclusively with found materials. This series not only highlights his artistic journey but also the frugality of a college student determined to make a message out of limited resources.
"Into the Cycle" was showcased at the University of Illinois Union in April and May 2023, surrounded by friends and family. The exhibit solidified a key memory for Hunter, deepening his connection to his art and the world around him.
